CIC: Information about working with learners
Before you work with children or young people
Before you start working with children and young people, you'll need to get a Disclosure Scotland background check. We recommend that you do this by becoming a STEM Ambassador, as this aslo had the advantage that you can continue to volunteer to work in schools and clubs after you have finished at university.

Videos to get you started teaching CS in schools
We originally made these videos to help industry volunteers who wanted to teach CS in classrooms, but they will be also useful for CiC students.
Reflection after a teaching session
It's a good idea to make some notes after each time you work with a group of learners, whether you were observer, assistant or teacher. It will help you to reflect on the session and how it relates to the reading you are doing for the course. It will be also useful for your final presentation at the end of the course where you reflect on the skills you have developed.
You can use these prompts to help you make notes, either in your learning log or in a private notebook. We'll also use the prompts in class when people are discussing how their teaching is going.
Here is the powerpoint file with the prompts: ReflectionWheel.pptx
