INF1-CG: Assessment

The assessment for this course consists of:

  • an assessed assignments, worth 20% of the overall mark;
  • five quizzes to test your knowledge, each worth 4% of the overall mark;
  • a final exam, worth 60% of the overall mark.

There is no "double hurdle" -- you don't need to get a certain mark in any of the components, you just need to get 40 or above overall to pass the course.

Assignments

All assignments are practical and require programming in Python. The labs are there to support the assignments. All assignments must be submitted by 12:00 noon Edinburgh time on the due date.

To access the assignments, please login in through Learn, and then go the link “Notable LTI 1.2”.

There is also an unassessed assignment (assignment 0) to introduce you to basic programming and math concepts. It will be issued immediately, and if you would like feedback then you must submit it by the deadline in week 3. The assignment is discussed in the labs.

Exam

The exam will be a two-hour, in-person, paper-and-pencil, closed book exam.

For exam date, time, and location see the Exam Timetable.

The exam paper will consist of two parts:

  • Part A: 13 multiple choice questions
  • Part B: 12 short-answer questions

Each question is worth 2 points, so you can get 50 points in total.

There will be an exam Q&A with the lecturers on Tue 29 April at 2:10pm in Appleton Tower 2.14.

Mock Exam

We have released a Mock Exam with Solutions that is similar to the real exam in terms of format and content.
