CARD: Practical 1

Files for practical 1.(a)

To complete the introductory lab session you will need to work through the Assignment document (shown as the Handout document in the list below). There is no writeup for this first assignment, instead all marks are awarded by demonstrating your work to a lab instructor during one of the drop-in lab sessions. Take a look at the Marking Scheme to see how those marks are allocated - this will allow you to prepare for the brief demo session.

You will need to download the pynq-z2_v1.0.xdc file, as you will need to use this when you set up your design for this part of the practical. Note, you can also open it as a text file in your browser and copy/paste its contents into a Vivado editor window, if you prefer.


Files for practical 1.(b)

To complete part (b) of the assignment you will need to work through the assignment document listed below. A write-up for this part 1.b should be included in your written report for Practical 1, which should be submitted by the due date. Half of the marks for this part are awarded for demonstrating your solution to a lab instructor, so please remember to ask for a demo session during one of the drop-in laboratory sessions.

You will need to download the zipped project from the list of files above, as a starting point for this part of the assignment, and then follow the instructions in the Handout document. You are recommended to implement each successive stage of the assignment as a distinct Vivado project; this will avoid overwriting previous stages a you progress through the stages, and will help demonstrate each part your solutions to a lab instructor in a single session when you have completed all stages of P1.b.


Files for practical 1.(c)

To complete part (c) of the assignment you will need to work through the assignment document listed below. A write-up for this part 1.c should be included in your written report for Practical 1, which should be submitted by the due date. Half of the marks for this part are awarded for demonstrating your solution to a lab instructor, so please remember to ask for a demo session during one of the drop-in laboratory sessions.
