This week we'll cover Chapter 1 of Carlton and Devore (”C&D”), the textbook for this part of the course, with the following topics.

1. Counting Methods (C&D Section 1.3)
2. Sample Spaces and Events (C&D Section 1.1)
3. Axioms of Probability (C&D Section 1.2)
4. Conditional Probability and Independence (C&D Sections 1.4 and 1.5)
