Informatics Makerspace will be helping to provide weekly content EIP, as well as our usual technical support for the designing and manufacturing of student projects.
Informatics Makerspace can be found on level 3 of Appleton Tower (room 3.08) and has a variety of manufacturing equipment which is available for Undergraduate Student use. Including a farm of Ultimaker 3D printers, 2 laser cutters, a benchtop mill, a Vacuum Former, a PCB Mill and a PCB Printer, soldering stations and 3D scanners.
We can offer advice and training on how to design, prepare and manufacture items using the above equipment and the variety of design software that is available.
Informatics Makerspace provides technical support for all the Undergraduate Hardware and Robotic courses and projects that require our assistance.
This ranges from the hands-on delivery of taught technical content and overall technical support for The System Design Project, but also includes the upkeep and maintenance of our fleet of Turtlebots which are available for the Mobile Robotics course. Equipment maintenance and technical support for PDIOT and CARD. The design and building of the writing robots for Advance Robotics course and equipment loans for Computing in the Classroom as well as technical support in all forms for 4th year Honours projects and technical support is always available for any and all new UG Teaching courses.
We assist with the design and manufacture of parts and robots not just for Undergraduate Informatics Teaching Courses but also for MsC and Phd projects and University Society's such as HypED, EUFS, Endevour Rockets and HumanED and are always happy to help our students with any interesting, creative and educational projects that they may be involved in themselves.
